Altec Industries is recalling certain 2017-2018 aerial devices and digger derricks and certain 2014-2018 cranes. An estimated 1,941 Altec units are affected by these recalls.

The company is recalling 2018-2018 Altec LR7, L42A, and AT37-G TDA58 aerial devices and DB37, DL/DMB D2/3/4B, and DMB digger derricks equipped with fiberglass platforms. An investigation found that in several occurrences, the steps on these fiberglass platforms may detach from the platform during normal use.  Altec will contact owners of the affected units to inspect the platform step, replace the platform if the step has separated, and add a platform step reinforcing kit. Altec’s number for this recall is CSN 695.

In addition, Altec is recalling certain 2014-2018 AC40-152S cranes due to an error with the electrical system. The electronic Load Moment and Area Protection (LMAP) screen may display incorrect load chart values on the affected cranes. In 2017, Altec noticed the LMAP software contained incorrect values and owners of the affected cranes were notified to update their software. Another investigation found that only 3 or the 4 required data points had been corrected. Customers will be asked to update the LMAP software and continue to follow the printed load charts, which did not contain the error. Altec’s number for this recall is CSN 696.
