Autodata Solutions Named Leading Provider of Accurate Automotive Data
Autodata Solutions leads all vendors with consistently accurate and timely vehicle information, according to the Automotive Content Accuracy Review, conducted by KeVation Research Group. The review compares new vehicle specification and pricing information from five major automotive data providers: Chrome Data Corporation, Automotive Information Center (AIC), JATO Dynamics, Intellichoice, and Autodata Solutions Company. Autodata Solutions was followed, in order, by Chrome Data, Intellichoice, JATO and AIC, according to KeVation. "Autodata Solutions’ ability to correctly configure even the most complex vehicles resulted in accurate configurations and prices for every vehicle tested," said Kathleen McMullen, president of KeVation. "This accuracy across all criteria earned Autodata the only content vendor performance rating of excellent." As more attention is given to the prospect of vehicle locate-to-order (LTO) and ultimately, build-to-order (BTO) systems, the need for accurate, transaction-quality automotive content continues to grow dramatically, according to McMullen. Automotive Web portals, automotive purchasing Web sites, as well as automotive dealer and manufacturer Web sites all demand accurate and timely content, relying on this data to build credibility and loyalty with consumers and tip the scales towards profitability. “The ascendance of the Internet as an information and fulfillment channel has mandated that successful players in the automotive space have orderable, transaction-quality data at their disposal,” McMullen said. “Our objective in conducting this review was to assess the timeliness and accuracy of data offered by these data vendors, using their respective enabling technologies. We specifically included test vehicles which have had recent price or option/trim/model changes as part of this evaluation.” The accuracy review compared 22 vehicles from the 2001 and 2002 model-years. The vehicles were selected to reflect popularity (frequently referenced), complexity (difficulty to configure), and recent changes (options recently added/removed or re-priced). All data gathering from vendors’ Web sites or products were conducted within a four-hour time span (to ensure comparable timeliness assessments), starting at noon on Jan. 24, 2001. A total of 22 unique vehicle configurations (one per vehicle) were created using the vehicle manufacturers' most current information (ordering guides and dealer bulletins) and were then recreated using each vendor’s configurator and data. Each configuration was designed to test a price/data timeliness/accuracy scenario.
