Altec is recalling several 2016 and 2017 aerial device and service body vehicles due to equipment and electrical system failures.

Altec Recall CSN 687: Certain 2017 Altec AT40M/S, TA41-48M/S, and L42A aerial devices include high-strength pedestal and turntable fasteners that may experience corrosion cracking, causing them to fail. If enough of these fasteners fail, the pedestal and turntable may separate from the vehicle, increasing the risk of injury. Altec dealers will inspect the vehicles and replace defective fasteners free of charge. An estimated 153 units are affected.

Altec Recall CSN 688: The company is recalling certain 2016-2017 Altec Aerial Devices and Service Body vehicles built on Ram 5500 Diesel chassis. The positive stud on the lead acid battery disconnect bracket may contact the hood and cause an electrical short, increasing the risk of a fire. Altec dealers will replace the lead acid battery disconnect free of charge. An estimated 290 units are affected.

Both recalls are expected to begin August 22, 2018.
