Lytx has rolled out its Weather Hazard Alerts, available to all clients as a project within the Lytx Lab tab in their accounts.

This new AI-powered geospatial technology built on the Lytx Vision Platform was developed within Lytx Lab, an idea incubator and a way for Lytx engineers and safety experts to collaborate with customers to address market needs.

Weather Hazard Alerts allow fleet managers to get notifications based on geospatial criteria and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration weather data to facilitate real-time decision-making for safer and more efficient driving.

Fleet Safety with Real-Time Weather Hazard Alerts

As per the U.S. Federal Highway Administration, approximately 21% of the annual 5.8 million vehicle crashes are attributed to adverse weather conditions such as rain, sleet, snow, fog, wind, and debris.

Moreover, over 70% of U.S. roads are situated in areas receiving more than five inches of snow annually.

Lytx introduces Weather Hazard Alerts, a feature that integrates NOAA weather warnings (covering snow, thunderstorms, floods, tornadoes, etc.) onto fleet maps.

Fleet managers can configure alerts based on specific geography, timeframes, and weather criteria, receiving notifications as weather conditions intensify in designated regions.

These alerts can be customized by geographic location, timeframe, and type of severe weather (e.g., tornado, hurricane, flash flood).

Once criteria are met, fleet managers automatically receive alerts with event descriptions, map images, potential vehicle impacts, and forecasted details about when and where the weather event is anticipated.

Real-Time Weather Intelligence

For a proactive approach, fleet managers can access current images from the Lytx network, the industry's largest cloud-connected device network via the Lytx Vision Platform.

This telematics and geospatial intelligence is aimed to enhance condition assessment accuracy and facilitate informed decision-making.

The Weather Hazard Alerts feature is now accessible to all U.S. Lytx network fleet managers.

Driver Alerts is a distinct component currently in the testing phase at Lytx Lab.

This feature notifies drivers directly through in-cab audio about approaching hazardous weather areas, enabling them to proactively reroute before encountering potentially unsafe conditions.
