Bosch, the company that invented the automotive oxygen sensor nearly 40 years ago, has just introduced new packaging for its line of oxygen sensors that builds on the blossoming popularity of smart phone technology. This creative new packaging includes, for the first time, quick response (QR) codes that can be scanned with a smart phone for immediate product information.
QR codes are becoming increasingly popular on consumer-oriented products, as smart phone technology with simple, free apps, can scan these codes and instantly allow the user to access a website with helpful and interesting information relating to the product.
The QR code on the new Bosch oxygen sensor packaging can be scanned with any smart phone equipped with the appropriate app, and the user will instantly be able to view the Bosch mobile site for oxygen sensors. This site includes details on all types of Bosch oxygen sensors, including helpful hints for diagnosing and replacing them. In addition, the user will be able to view a new, informative instructional video that will answer the most common questions relating to oxygen sensor operation, diagnosis, and replacement.
The new Bosch oxygen sensor packaging also features a new carbon fiber background to call out the advanced technology and sophistication of Bosch replacement oxygen sensors, which are based on decades of engineering interaction with OE automakers in the U.S., Europe, and Asia. The packaging will also incorporate the NASCAR Performance logo, promoting Bosch as the exclusive oxygen sensor of NASCAR. Every NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race car uses electronic fuel injection and engine management systems that operate in conjunction with input from two Bosch oxygen sensors in the exhaust stream.
Bosch continues to offer three different types of automotive oxygen sensors – sophisticated Wideband Air/Fuel sensors, traditional switching-type Premium sensors, and Premium sensors with Bosch’s patented OE SmartLink connector technology. All three types feature the new packaging.
