CERRITOS, CA – Isuzu Commercial Truck of America has announced its 2009 N-Series line-up of low cab forward trucks with new features to increase driver productivity, enhance fuel economy, and reduce emissions. The front suspensions, spring rates, steering, and cab mount bushings have been tuned for more comfort and a better ride. A new optional Limited Slip Differential distributes torque evenly to the wheels. In the area of pollution control, all Isuzu diesel trucks are now 50-state “Clean Idle Certified.”

All N-Series diesel models incorporate a Data Recording Module that can provide a Vehicle Health Report showing the condition of the engine, transmission, emissions, and brakes, plus fuel economy and driver operating habits. For longer brake life, an Electronic Braking Distribution system balances brake pressure to all wheels by automatically adjusting to the load’s weight distribution.

More wheelbases have been added to accommodate the widest possible range of bodies. Wheelbase choices from 109 to 212 inches handle bodies from 10 to 24 feet in length. GVWRs offerings range from 12,000 lbs. to 19,500 lbs.

The low cab forward design affords excellent maneuverability with a curb-to-curb turning diameter of 33.5 feet for a 109-inch wheelbase model.

To extend durability, the cab has rust and corrosion protection provided by galvanized steel panels, electro-deposit paint primer, and enamel paint topcoat. Unitary construction, rigidity, and strong reinforcements add to cab durability and safety.

The N-Series overhead cam 5.2L 4H turbocharged, intercooled, diesel engine delivers 205 horsepower @ 2400 rpm with 441 lb.-ft. of torque @1850 rpm. It has a B-10 durability rating of 310,000 miles, which means 90 percent of the engines should reach this mileage before a major component failure. The engine is mated to an Aisin heavy-duty, six-speed automatic transmission with double overdrive.

For customers who prefer a gasoline engine, NPR, NPR HD, and their crew cab models are also available with a Vortec 6.0L V-8 engine with 325 horsepower and 360 lb.-ft. of torque. These models come with a Hydra-Matic four-speed automatic with lockup torque converter and overdrive.

Isuzu 2009 N-Series diesel models are available from the factory in a variety of exterior cab colors: Arc White (standard), Wheatland Yellow, Woodland Green, Cardinal Red, Dark Blue, and Ebony Black II.
