UNION CITY, IN – Workhorse Custom Chassis is now providing new service options for walk-in trucks using Workhorse chassis. Called Extended Service Coverage (ESC), these new options offer different levels of warranty protection for up to five years or 100,000 miles for Workhorse gas chassis and five years or 250,000 miles for Workhorse diesel chassis.

The extended warranties apply to Workhorse gas and diesel W42 and W62 walk-in truck chassis ranging from 9,400 to 23,500-lbs. GVWR, with wheelbases of 125 to 218 inches. The Workhorse W42 gas platform (up to 16,000-lbs. GVWR) uses GM Vortec 4.8 or 6.0L engines with General Motors’ four-speed electronic, automatic transmissions. The current warranty is for three years or 36,000 miles. For the chassis, engine, and transmission, extended warranties are now available for three years/50,000 miles, five years/50,000 miles, five years/75,000 miles, or five years/100,000 miles. The same options are also available for the engine and transmission only.

The new Workhorse W62 offers the same options for its gas drivetrain that uses GMs’ 8.1L Vortec V-8 gasoline engine mated to the five-speed Allison 1000HS (for 19,500 lb. GVWR) or the Allison 2200HS (for 23,500 lb. GVWR) transmission.

The diesel W62 uses International’s MaxxForce 5 V-6 engine with the same transmissions, while the W42 uses the MaxxForce 5 with an Allison LCT-1000. For the diesel chassis only, the current warranty is three years or 36,000 miles and can now be extended to three years/75,000 miles or three years/150,000 miles.

For the diesel engine, the current warranty is three years/150,000 miles, which can be extended to five years/150,000 miles, five years/200,000 miles, or five years/250,000 miles. For the diesel engine and chassis, extended warranty options are five years/150,000 miles, five years/200,000 miles, or five years/250,000 miles. In each case, the Allison transmission retains its standard five-year/200,000-mile warranty.
