Wheels, Inc. and Nationwide Insurance Fleet have unveiled the Paperless Office, a suite of Web-based capabilities that enables all fleet-related information and transactions to be accessed or conducted online. Developed by Wheels in a close working partnership with long-standing client Nationwide Insurance, it is the first initiative of this type in the fleet industry. Over the last few years, Wheels has focused on expanding online capabilities to support driver ordering, invoice processing and payment, collision information, resale condition reports, and truck engineering specifications, among other requirements. The continuing development of these enhancements, which are accessible on an opt-in basis to every client using Wheels FleetView online fleet management tool, has been the foundation of the Paperless Office. The development and testing of the Paperless Office program culminated with the introduction of the final online components, including alerts on changes in the vehicle costs, detail on extra options that drivers choose to buy for their vehicles and odometer disclosures. Because fleet managers are often on the move and need to be able to make key decisions or transact business from wherever they are, Wheels and Nationwide Insurance are meeting prevailing business needs, according to Watson. By drastically reducing the fleet office's reliance on paper, the companies are also taking steps to help conserve natural resources, she says.
