The Nissan NV has always been the epitome of the beefy full-size van that drives like a pickup truck and can move its payload with an optional V-8 engine that's one of only two left in this commercial segment.

The 2018 NV Cargo rumbles into fleet parking lots as mostly a carryover model, but Nissan has added a few welcome interior upgrades that should improve productivity in this mobile office.

Nissan breaks up the models and trim grades a bit differently than other full-size van manufacturers. First, you pick your model — NV1500, NV2500HD, and NV3500HD — and then you select your trim grade within that model — S, SV, or SL — and standard or high roof. The high roof is only available on 2500 and 3500.

Commercial buyers can choose between two engines — a 4.0-liter V-6 or the 5.6-liter V-8 that's also only available on 2500 and 3500.

The 2018 NV also brings Nissan's bumper-to-bumper warranty of five years or 100,000 miles.

In the cabin, the NV Cargo van has become more competitive with interior upgrades such as a standard back-up camera (called RearView Monitor), 5-inch color display, and Bluetooth-enabled hands-free calls and audio. A USB connection allows drivers to charge their smartphones.

Nissan has also standardized its former Power Package on the base model, which includes power windows, power door locks with central locking, auto door lock, and remote keyless entry.

We tested the NV3500 SL with the high roof and V-8.  It included the rear door glass ($190) and all season rubber floor mats ($95). It would retail for $39,450.
