In 2018, Texas had the highest numer of drivers employed by state with 182,370 but an annual mean wage of $44,260. Pennsylvania came in fourth with 80,810 drivers employed per state, but had the highest annual mean wage of the top five states at $46,150.

Private fleets pay higher on average than for-hire fleets, with the Northeast topping the list at $65,796 per year.
