Q. What is an effective way to change driver behavior?
A. The best way to implement driver change is through a combination of education, data monitoring, and driver accountability...
A. Standardizing vehicle and upfit specs can have numerous operational benefits. This can streamline initial vehicle ordering, provide consistent asset-to-asset capitalized cost, reduce new driver training, and provide flexibility when reassigning vehicles between locations if a vehicle unexpectedly goes out of service. Developing a neutral interior spec which only requires the addition or removal of a few components can allow the fleet manager to quickly re-purpose the vehicle between vocational needs. Providing consistent vehicle & upfit specs can reduce the time required for new driver/technician training as well as provide more consistent product inventory. There will be situations where a one-size-fits-all approach may not work, such as when the vehicle application is unique or more complex.
