BOSTON - Cole Hersee will be showcasing the SureStart Low Voltage Disconnect (LVD) Switch 48513, LVD Switch 48510, and Smart Battery Isolator 48525 at the Work Truck Show 2010 March 9 - 10, 2010 at America's Center in St. Louis, MO.

The Cole Hersee SureStart Low Voltage Disconnect Switch electronically senses battery voltage and conserves starting power by disconnecting non-critical loads and by prolonging battery life by preventing battery damage due to excessive discharge. This switch is ideal for heavy-duty vehicles, as well as vehicles with ancillary on-board equipment, such as snowplows, hoists, pumps, floodlights, etc., as well as in-cab amenities such as A/C.

The SureStart LVD switch has a rating of 100A at 12V or 24V DC.  Its service life exceeds 1,000,000 on/off cycles, and it also features a manual override function that allows users to connect or disconnect the switch when needed, regardless of voltage. The switch features a compact size (4.5 x 4 x 4.27") which makes it easy to install into a new or old vehicle.  Unlike many voltage monitoring devices, the SureStart LVD switch does not require a separate solenoid to control high current making it reliable and simple to install.

Cole Hersee's LVD Switch eliminates dead batteries by automatically disconnecting non-critical loads from a battery when the battery falls below a predefined threshold.  When the battery voltage is restored, the switch automatically restores the functionality of the ancillary equipment.  The switch provides over-current, short-circuit and over-temperature protections to ensure a safe and reliable operation.

The LVD Switch extends battery life, featuring a 200A at 12V DC rating, and comes with a manual override option to allow users to make or break the connection regardless of the battery voltage

Cole Hersee's LVD Switches are resistant to vibration and mechanical shock and withstand contamination from moisture, dust or salt spray, making these versatile devices that can be implemented into any vehicle or environment.

Additionally, Cole Hersee will be featuring its Smart Battery Isolator 48525, which prevents loads on the auxiliary battery from draining the starting battery.

The smart battery isolator provides a more flexible solution than traditional isolators, as it is not specific to an alternator type. Additionally, Cole Hersee's smart battery isolator is smaller, lighter and generates less heat than competitive products.  Because the smart battery isolator reduces charging system workload by not connecting to the auxiliary battery until the primary battery is charged to 13.2 V, there is lower strain on expensive charging components, effectively extending the product life.

No diode efficiency losses occur when using Cole Hersee's smart battery isolator, and it also allows bi-directional charging from alternator or from other power chargers/converters. Easy to install, the smart battery isolator also features an LED status indicator and operational start assist.

The Smart Battery Isolator is available in 85A and 200A versions.
