LOS ALTOS, CA – Baytech Corporation has obtained 2009 EPA and CARB certifications for Baytech’s compressed natural gas (CNG) fueled GM 8.1L heavy-duty engine. The Baytech CNG 8.1L engine is certified for use in the GMC Topkick and Chevrolet Kodiak C4500/5500 and Workhorse Custom Chassis heavy-duty vehicle chassis. Popular vehicle applications include shuttle buses, delivery trucks, flatbeds, utility bodies, street sweepers, and step vans.

“Baytech’s 8.1L CNG engine on GM C Series and Workhorse chassis satisfies a wide variety of commercial fleet applications,” says Richard Turner, Vice President. “It is one of our best sellers, and we are glad to be offering it in 2009. Baytech continues to offer the largest lineup of EPA and CARB certified CNG vehicles in the industry.”

The CNG system incorporates Baytech’s gaseous fuel sequential Multi-Point Fuel Injection system technology. Baytech’s CNG engine calibration software is fully integrated with the vehicle’s control system to achieve high performance and low emissions, and engine diagnostics functions are accessed via standard gasoline scanner tools.
