TROY, MI – Behr America, a leading automotive air conditioning and cooling systems suppliers, is working with a major U.S. truck manufacturer to launch its No-Idle Air-Conditioning (NIA/C) System in North America in 2007. Behr’s NIA/C System provides air conditioning to heavy-duty truck cabins while the engine is turned off. Behr’s technology saves fuel and reduces emissions, according to the company.

Behr has produced the NIA/C System for Europe since 2003. The U.S. system is integrated into the vehicle’s architecture to deliver high performance and exceptional comfort.

Features of the Behr Hi-Performance NIA/C system include:

  1. Integration with original equipment manufacturer auxiliary HVAC systems, ducts, and controls.
  2. Externally-mounted compressor/condenser for a quieter sleeping environment.
  3. APU or 100 VAC Shore Power and field-proven APU and HVAC system components.
  4. Integration of the system to the coolant heater, using the truck’s existing HVAC control.
  5. One-button starting for cooling, heating or engine pre-heating.
