Chrysler is expanding the capabilities of its Warren, Mich., plant to produce 28,565 additional Ram 1500 pickup trucks each year, the company has announced.

With the move, the Warren Truck Assembly Plant will likely produce more than 300,000 Ram Trucks per year for the first time. In 2013, the plan built 291,554 Ram trucks, an increase from the 227,453 built in 2012.

Increasing the capacity at the 76-year-old plant will involve redesigning 353 work stations to produce five more trucks an hour or 100 more trucks per day, according to Chrysler. The plant assembles the Ram 1500's three engines, including the 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6, 5.7-liter HEMI V-8, and the 3.0-liter V-6 EcoDiesel.
