Artificial intelligence (AI) startup Prophecta has introduced a vehicle tracking algorithm that the company said can complement and extend the value of Geotab, Samsara, and any other telematics solutions.

The Prophecta tool's exclusive causality-aware modeling, real-time simulation, and forecasting help drivers maximize potential fuel cost savings and emissions reductions while increasing truck driver safety through real-time coaching and incentives, according to the company.

Prophecta's AI program is more than a navigation app, according to Vasily Nikolaev, chief executive officer of the Silicon Valley company.

"Our software assists drivers in improving driving techniques and habits that can reduce carbon emissions,” he explained. The application provides driver guidance without the exorbitant cost associated with training that companies faced in the past.”

Anatoly Volkhover, co-founder and chief technology officer, said the company focuses squarely on cost reduction, with fuel savings of up to 40% just through driver behavior modification.

The system tracks how each driver is performing in real time. Whenever the system detects suboptimal performance, it provides corrective recommendations. Drivers are motivated to follow the AI’s advice by receiving a portion of the generated savings, explained Volkhover.

“Optimizations lead to a significant reduction of idle time, higher utilization of equipment and workforce, smart routing that considers fuel pricing, terrain- and load-specific engine speed, improved safety, operating under severe weather conditions, and more," Volkhover added.
