Growing customer demand led Fontaine Modification to build a facility that doubles its production and product development capabilities. The 145,000-square-foot Charlotte, North Carolina, facility is nearly three times the size of its previous location.
Fontaine Modification is an engineering-driven provider of post-production services for original equipment manufacturers, truck dealers, and fleets. It operates 10 modification centers strategically located near OEM plants across the United States. The company has been headquartered in Charlotte since 1991 and has recently moved into the new headquarters building.
Fontaine’s new building includes:
- Corporate offices
- New product development technical center
- Full modification center that serves the Freightliner Mt. Holly production plant.
The new facility will continue to grow in stages. Future development plans include a video production studio and a customer pilot review center. More than 75 people currently work in the location.
“The commercial vehicle industry is in a period of rapid technological change,” says Jamil Young, Fontaine Modification president. “Demand for our traditional design, engineering, and production services for vocational and on-highway trucks is growing at the same time we are being asked to provide the engineering support and path to market for a wide range of new commercial vehicle technologies, including zero-emissions vehicles.”
