Kenworth Manufacturing Facilities Earn Certification

KIRKLAND, WA – Kenworth Truck Company’s manufacturing facilities in Chillicothe, Ohio, and Renton, Wash., have earned the prestigious ISO 14001:2004 certification for effective environmental management systems established to help build Class 8 trucks in an environmentally sustainable manner.

KIRKLAND, WA – Kenworth Truck Company’s manufacturing facilities in Chillicothe, Ohio, and Renton, Wash., have earned the prestigious ISO 14001:2004 certification for effective environmental management systems established to help build Class 8 trucks in an environmentally sustainable manner.

“The Kenworth-Chillicothe and Kenworth-Renton manufacturing facilities have successfully developed and implemented innovative and effective, industry-leading systems designed around the theme of ‘Reduce, Reuse and Recycle’ to decrease emissions, noise and waste sent to landfills,” said Marilyn Santangelo, Kenworth assistant general manager for operations. “Kenworth’s certification to this challenging ISO standard for excellent environmental practices further helps to demonstrate that our products and services truly live up to Kenworth’s reputation as The World’s Best.”

Kenworth’s medium-duty products are produced at the PACCAR manufacturing facility in Ste. Therese, Que., which also currently holds ISO 14001:2004 status.ISO 14001:2004 is an internationally recognized standard that provides guidelines and specific requirements for an environmental management system.

To achieve certification, a company must demonstrate and provide objective evidence to a third-party auditor that its system is operating effectively in conformity to the established standard. Kenworth’s audit was conducted by SGS Systems & Services Certification, the world’s leading inspection, verification, testing and certification company. The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) is the world’s largest developer and publisher of International Standards. ISO is a network of the national standards institutes of 157 countries with a Central Secretariat in Geneva, Switzerland, that coordinates the system. 

Kenworth, a division of PACCAR Inc, is a leading manufacturer of heavy and medium duty trucks. Kenworth is the recipient of the 2007 J.D.
