According to Orlando Sentinel, Marisol Gonzalez died more than a week after being hit on Dec. 2 by an Orlando Utilities Commission (OUC) truck. The girl was walking to school on the sidewalk with her older sister, who walked away physically unharmed.

The family's father and attorney speak at a press conference in the video from Orlando Sentinel above.

The OUC driver was 63-year-old Edwin Hill, who made a left turn at a green light, when he was struck by an oncoming vehicle. This impact is what investigators say caused the truck to hit the girl. Neither one of the drivers received any major injuries.

Florida Highway Patrol is still investigating and charges are pending.

The Orlando Sentinel also reported that OUC hadn't been involved in this tragic of an accident "for decades."
