Orange EV has that its Orange EV T-Series terminal truck solution has qualified for financial incentives through Drive Clean Chicago.

With Orange EV, terminal operators can save from day one on fuel, maintenance, and other costs. With the financial incentives, these savings will include an additional $45,000 to $75,000 in purchase price per truck, according to the company. Orange EVs have the power to haul the same load while spending 90 percent less in fuel and eliminating both diesel fuel and emissions.

Orange EV manufactures pure electric terminal trucks customized to the customer’s operating environment. Starting with an existing truck Orange EV removes all the elements of the diesel power train (e.g. motor, transmission, supporting systems), installs all electric power train and control systems, and reconditions remaining components. During the conversion process, Orange EV takes the chassis down to bare metal before repainting and reassembling to deliver a truck with a new, full life. This approach lowers cost, maximizes recycling, and delivers a like new truck drivers already know, according to the company. The Orange EV powertrain and control systems are maintenance free and guaranteed under written warranty.

Funded by resources from the federal Congestion Mitigation Air Quality (CMAQ) program, Drive Clean Chicago supports Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s mission to make Chicago the most livable, sustainable and competitive city in the world. Sustainable Chicago 2015, the City’s sustainability roadmap, calls for enhanced use of clean fuels and clean vehicle technologies to reduce emissions by transportation vehicles. Through the program, funds are paid directly to vehicle providers to reduce the cost of vehicle purchase and range from $45,000 to $75,000 per vehicle.
