Princeton, NJ - ALK Technologies, Inc., a provider of GeoLogistics and navigation software, has announced the availability of CoPilot Truck Optimized by Qualcomm Incorporated for Qualcomm's Mobile Computing Platform 50 (MCP50). Available as the exclusive in-cab navigation application at launch for the MCP50, CoPilot Truck is designed to help fleets reduce out-of-route mileage, increase driver efficiency and compliance, and improve driver safety, according to the company.

A fully on-board solution, CoPilot Truck allows drivers to calculate optimal, truck-specific routes based on their vehicle profile dimensions, routing parameters and load-specific information, including hazmat categories, without the need for off-board computations. Up-to-date, street-level ALK Maps of the United States and Canada, enhanced with PC*MILER truck-specific attributes and millions of Points of Interest (POIs) -- including truck services, truck stops, rest areas and weigh stations -- are stored directly on-board the MCP50 for constant, reliable access, according to the company.

CoPilot Truck's voice guided, turn-by-turn directions using Qualcomm's proprietary In-Motion User Interface and text-to-speech functionality to pronounce full street names combined with fast, automatic re-route calculation if a driver misses a turn or goes off their planned route, ensures improved driver safety on the road. Designed with drivers in mind, the application features a dynamic map and Driver Safety guidance views along with enhanced guidance on the approach to complex interchanges with real signpost information and lane assist arrows. Clearly displayed automatic alerts appear on-screen to warn the driver of upcoming potential hazards.

CoPilot Truck Optimized by Qualcomm is also available on Qualcomm's MCP200 and MCP110.
