COMMERCE CITY, CO - Republic Services, the nation's second-largest waste and recycling company, recently celebrated the opening of its new Clean Energy-built CNG refueling facility in Commerce City, Colo. The station is part of a $5 million investment in converting the company's 140 Denver-area trucks from diesel to natural gas. The investment will result in a significant reduction in harmful vehicle emissions, be a step toward greater domestic energy security, and support Colorado's natural gas industry.

"We are very proud to be the first solid waste company in the region that has fully committed to cleaner-burning CNG as its fuel of choice for all heavy-duty vehicles," said Craig Hutchison, general manager of Republic Services of Denver. The company, which has already switched over 17 trucks, has 60 more units scheduled for conversion in 2012.
