Omnitracs, LLC, a provider of fleet management solutions to transportation and logistics companies, announced the acquisition of VisTracks, a provider of device-agnostic, SaaS-based compliance solutions to the transportation and logistics industry.

This acquisition builds on the Omnitracs One platform vision and further enhances the company’s device agnostic hardware and OEM strategy. It also extends Omnitracs’ reach into the SMB market by adding the VisTracks reseller community into the Omnitracs partner network.

The Omnitracs One platform was designed for interoperability and ease-of-use, ensuring customers have access to a vast library of industry-leading capabilities and integration options, according to the company. With many fleets already committed to their original equipment manufacturer (OEM), they look for flexible solutions that can leverage their existing hardware and software products.

Through the acquisition, Omnitracs will add approximately 60,000 vehicles onto the Omnitracs One platform and will accelerate their hardware agnostic strategy by increasing the number of supported telematics devices by more than 30.

“The transportation industry is in the midst of an era of decentralization, and as technology providers, we must be diligent in providing access to enterprise-grade solutions that unify fragmented technology,” said Ray Greer, CEO of Omnitracs. “Omnitracs is dedicated to driving innovation and providing the best possible solutions to our customers, and the acquisition of VisTracks only furthers that commitment. We are pleased to welcome the VisTracks team of experienced technology professionals and reseller partners into the Omnitracs family.”

The VisTracks architecture provides a lightweight, mobile device-based and cloud-enabled solution, which will allow Omnitracs to quickly go-to-market with OEM-integrated solutions. Omnitracs is preparing to release early versions of the integrated software in late 2020.

“Omnitracs is setting the industry standard for developing driver-first technology and creating seamless integration opportunities that benefit their customers,” said Stephen G. Eick, President and CEO of VisTracks. “By uniting with Omnitracs, we can provide a more robust offering to a broader audience of fleets and drivers while continuing to drive innovation throughout the transportation industry.”
