Amy Baker, senior marketing manager, fleet and small business for FCA US LLC

The Women in Fleet profile series introduces fleet managers to some of the most influential women in fleet. Every month, we get to know another positive force in the fleet industry.

This month, we spoke with Amy Baker, senior marketing manager, fleet and small business for FCA US LLC.

Getting into Fleet

After spending some time with an advertising agency that supported FCA work, Baker began working directly for FCA in 2010. And she wasted no time, starting right away in the fleet department.

“I have held a variety of roles from running all our CRM campaigns and managing the FCA Fleet website, to handling all the advertising and literature. Now, I oversee the entire marketing department,” Baker explained.

She currently heads up the marketing efforts for FCA Fleet and Small Business as well as provides marketing support to field sales teams.

“My team seeks to deliver personalized omnichannel messages across the customer journey. We work to communicate with fleet managers and purchase decision-makers effectively,” Baker said.

Baker’s greatest success in fleet is the introduction of more web-based tools for fleets.

“From automating our FAN enrollment process to simplifying the login process or better tracking customer vehicle orders, we built tools to help fleets manage their vehicles,” Baker explained.

Baker is driven by the desire to help others succeed.

“Providing value to our customers from the marketing aspect is of top priority. Striving to come up with new ways to do something or improve a process that is going to help our customers brings me a sense of satisfaction. From educating customers on a safety feature and how it will help their drivers to informing about a new service offering FCA has in place. Hearing customers say we helped inform their decision means we met our objective,” she said.

When it comes to advice for others in the industry? Network!

“Reach out to others in the industry or within your organization to stay abreast of changes in the fleet industry and on the automotive side,” Baker recommended. “Also, leverage the industry organizations and events as well as trade publications. If you are newer to the fleet industry, seek out a trusted mentor to help guide you along the way. These relationships can prove invaluable throughout your career and transition into becoming a mentor to others as you gain knowledge and grow in your career.”

Get to Know Me

Experience is only part of our story and what someone likes to read, watch, and listen to can help paint a fuller picture of their personality. Here are some of Baker’s favorites:

Book: “I am currently reading No One is Too Small to Make a Difference by Greta Thunberg. She is such an inspiration showing that no matter what, at any age, we can all strive to make a difference,” she said.

Movie:Pretty Woman – it’s such a classic!” Baker said.

Songs: “Chasing Pavements by Adele. She is such a powerhouse as a singer,” she said.

You May Not Know: “I like to refinish furniture in my spare time. Taking something old and repurposing it and making it new brings a sense of accomplishment,” Baker concluded.
