Spartan Motors has received an order for 2,237 Utilimaster step vans from a leading North American online e-commerce and fulfillment company, the Charlotte, Mich.-based upfitter announced.

Company business unit Spartan Fleet Vehicles and Services will build the vehicles, which will be used for last-mile delivery.

The vehicles will be built during the second half of the year at Utilimaster's Bristol, Indiana, manufacturing facility. The order expands an existing relationship between the two parties. In the past, the upfitter has supplied cargo vans with auxiliary equipment.

"An order of this magnitude from North America's leading e-commerce retailer, in addition to the cargo van upfit orders already in production, further confirms Utilimaster's position as the go-to source for companies seeking last-mile delivery vehicle and upfit solutions across any and all platforms," said Chad Heminover, president of Spartan Fleet Vehicles and Services.
