Elgin Sweeper Company is recalling certain 2015-2018 Elgin Broom Bear, Crosswind, Eagle, Road Wizard, and Whirl Wind street sweepers. An estimated 1,230 units are affected by this recall.

The T-fitting installed on the air brake system may fail, causing air to leak, potentially resulting in the parking brake applying unexpectedly. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 121, “Air Brake Systems,” and 106, “Brake Hoses.”

Elgin will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the street sweepers and replace the T-fittings as necessary free of charge. Owners may contact Elgin customer service at 1-877-342-5374.
