Arval has named Alain Van Groenendael as its new chairman and CEO effective Jan. 1, where he will focus on addressing changes in mobility and other industry challenges.
Groenendael joins Arval, a subsidiary founded by BNP Paribas, following the recent retirement of the company’s previous CEO Philippe Bismut, according to a release from Arval. The company specializes in full-service leasing.
Previously, Groenendael spent a majority of his career with Citibank in various roles and locations, and most recently served as CEO of Consumer Bank for Western Europe and a member of the Citigroup Management Committee, Arval stated. He was also chairman of the Loans & Financial Services Division of the PPR Group and chairman and CEO of Finaref.
In 2008, he was appointed to BNP Paribas Personal Finance’s Board and served as its deputy chairman. In 2015, he became chairman of the company and a member of the management committees for International Financial Services and Retail Banking of the BNP Paribas Group.
