Smith System has released its Driving Weather training video to help fleet drivers negotiate fall weather that could turn colder, wetter, and longer than usual. The system helps drivers negotiate fog, rain, snow, and ice.

The video is part of the company's series of videos and E-Learning selections that focus on a specific challenge facing drivers. The videos are available on DVD, USB, or via the company's online portal.

About 25% of weather-related vehicle crashes happen on snowy or icy pavement, and 15% happen during snowfall or sleet. More than 1,300 people die each year in vehicle crashes on snowy, slushy or icy roads, according to the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Highway Administration.

The Smith5Keys principles include creating a cushion of space around your vehicle, assessing road and driving conditions, and making sure your vehicle is properly set up for maximum driving visibility.
