Rand McNally unveiled two compact tracking devices and announced that the DriverConnect platform now supports asset tracking.

The AssetTracker B100 and S100 are designed to transmit precise locations of assets while in motion or sitting still. The tracking solution offers important information for fleet owners and managers that need to understand where cargo is at all times. The information can be used to inform a customer of a load’s location, locate a missing or stolen trailer, or confirm the presence of an asset in a yard.

Asset tracking is the latest option available on Rand McNally’s DriverConnect platform, which offers mix-and-match fleet management tools for compliance, reporting, navigation, productivity, and analytics.

The tracking service can be added to a company’s monthly DriverConnect subscription or used as a stand-alone product. The AssetTracker B100 is battery-powered while the S100 is a rechargeable solar version with battery backup.

Both models are designed for use in extreme weather conditions and have installation times of under 10 minutes. Each model comes pre-configured and does not require bulky switches or cables.

A single log-in to the DriverConnect platform provides access to on-screen mapping and location information plus up to six months of tracking data and reporting. Managers can set up custom geofences in order to receive an email alert when an asset moves, enters, or exits a designated boundary. The geofencing feature will be available in November. The trackers can send their location when idle and in motion using a built-in cellular modem that runs on a 4G LTE network.
