Ford Motor Company is recalling up to 1,474 2018 F-650 and F-750 trucks due to a defect relating to the brake fluid hose, according to federal recall records.
The brake circuit hose assemblies located between the master cylinder and the hydraulic control unit may have been manufactured without anti-corrosion plating on the coupling fittings, also known as ferrules, of the hoses. This can lead to premature corrosion, which can result in a brake fluid leak. Such a leak could result in reduced brake effectiveness, which increases the risk of a crash.
Ford will notify owners of the trucks and dealers will replace the brake hose assemblies at no charge. The recall was expected to begin on July 9. Owners may contact Ford customer service at (866) 436-7332 or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) at 888-327-4236. Ford's number for the recall is 18S19.
