The Webb 56864B brake drum now incorporates cool running technology vents designed to improve airflow into the wheel end and manage heat 10% better than similar weight brake drums, accordingto the company.

The brake drum was engineered using finite element analysis and real-world data to run 10% cooler and last 10% longer in standard duty 23K drive and trailer applications, according to Webb. With better heat transfer efficiency, the 56864B brake drum can result in improved performance and require less maintenance.

Aerodynamic enhancements like side skirts can also reduce crosswind and straight-line airflow beneath a trailer which increases brake temperature, according to Webb. By improving the airflow to the wheel end, Webb's brake drum with CRT vents can mitigate the heat-increasing effects of aerodynamic devices.
