Wabco Holdings announced that it will locate its new Americas headquarters in Auburn Hills, Michigan, and is currently building the facility to house it.

The new 102,000 square-foot facility is expected to open in the third quarter of 2018, and the company said that it represents a significant investment and demonstrates Wabco’s commitment to the region. The facility will house about 200 employees when it opens, including employees who are currently located at separate sites in Rochester Hills and Troy, Michigan.

Wabco has tripled its workforce in North America in the past two years through the acquisition of four tech manufacturing businesses and the buyout of Meritor Wabco Vehicle Control Systems joint venture with Meritor. Wabco’s workforce in the Americas is comprised of more than 1,800 team members at 11 locations, including 10 in North America: Rochester Hills and Troy, Michigan Charleston, South Carolina; Hebron, Kentucky.; North Mankato, Minnesota; Hanover, Pennsylvania; Wytheville, Virginia; Oakville, Ontario, Canada; and Empalme, Sonora, and San Luis Potosi, Mexico.

“Wabco’s investment in a new Americas headquarters reflects our leadership in technologies that advance the safety, efficiency and connectivity of commercial vehicles in this region,” said Jon Morrison, Wabco president, Americas. “We are driving dynamic growth and expansion in North America, and this new headquarters will enable our team to anticipate and respond to customer needs even better. In addition, the new office will now co-locate our talented teams, fostering seamless collaboration as we advance innovations to enable autonomous driving in the commercial vehicle industry.”

Last year, Wabco opened a new manufacturing plant to produce air disc brakes for trucks and trailers in the U.S. The company invested $20 million in the 145,000-square-foot plant.
