Toyota is renaming its Yaris subcompact sedan and will offer the car in three trim grades for 2019. The 2019 Yaris will no longer be known as the Yaris iA — a not to its earlier shared platform with Scion, which was discontinued in 2016.

The 2019 Yaris will be available in L, LE, and XLE models. The premium XLE grade is new, while the L grade will be sportier.

The Yaris will offer new standard equipment, including a 7-inch touchscreen and a standard active safety system with a low-speed pre-collision system.

A direct-injected 1.5-liter engine delivers power through a six-speed automatic transmission, which help the Yaris deliver 40 miles to the gallon in highway driving, according to preliminary EPA estimates. The Yaris should deliver 32 mpg in the city and 35 mpg combined.
