Toyota's RAV4 compact SUV — the first compact crossover when it debuted in the U.S. in 1995 — will enter its fifth generation with the 2019 model year. Toyota will reveal more details at the New York International Auto Show on March 26.

The RAV4, which last had a generational redesign for the 2013 model year, has benefitted from growing popularity of compact SUVs in recent years. In 2017, the RAV4 increased its sales by 15.7% to 407,594 over 2016. The RAV4 has faced increasing competition from Nissan's Rogue, which closed the gap to only about 4,000 less vehicles.

Toyota is livestreaming the reveal at 9:10 a.m. East Coast time.
