In the past year, average diesel fuel prices per gallon have increased 42 cents, from $2.13 in 2016 to $2.55 in 2017. Going even further back, prices have decreased by 22 cents since April of 2015, when they began their steady decrease for the remainder of the year before beginning to increase again in early 2016.
Current projections from the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) calls for a steady increase in diesel fuel prices for the foreseeable future.
