Interior Gas Utility (AK) voted to purchase Pentex, parent company of Fairbanks Natural Gas, from the state at a recent board meeting. With this purchase, the public utility will take over natural gas operations and add the natural gas utility's assets to its fleet.

The municipal utility first issued a memorandum of understanding about the purchase on January 3rd and the IGU Board of Directors approved it at a special board meeting on January 10th. In addition to Pentex's liquefied natural gas (LNG) plants, IGU will also gain a natural gas liquefaction facility, two LNG fueling stations, two LNG trucks, 14 tanker trailers, and storage and vaporization equipment.
