Sales of vehicles from eight manufacturers to commercial fleets increased 8.1% to 65,554 vehicles in May compared to a year ago with a double-digit increase in sales of passenger cars.

Trucks, vans, and SUVs remained the high-volume seller with a 6% increase to 53,617. Sales of passenger cars increased 18.6% to 11,937 vehicles. At the same time, retail sales slumped in May.

Fleet sales through five months remained healthy, increasing 11.4% to 314,573 units. Year-to-date sales in the truck category have increased 14.4% to 263,639 units, while passenger car sales have dipped 1.8% to 50,934 vehicles.
