Emcara Gas Development is recalling 2,880 pressure relief devices because they may malfunction and fail to vent a buildup of pressure in a compressed natural gas (CNG) tank, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reported.

Additionally, Agility Fuel Systems is recalling 416 CNG fuel systems because the pressure relief devices also might malfunction, NHTSA said.

“If the PRD does not activate in the event of a buildup of pressure, the CNG tank may explode, increasing the risk of fire and injury,” NHTSA said.

Owners affected by either of the two safety recalls can reach Emcara at (519) 821-5259 or Agility at (949) 267-7745.
