The average price of a gallon of diesel fuel hit a new high this month, besting the last week’s record high by 11 cents, according to the U.S. Department of Energy.
At $5.623 per gallon, the average cost of a gallon of diesel is up nearly $2.44 compared to the same time a year ago.
The average price increased in all 10 regions of the U.S. tracked by the Energy Information Administration, with the East Coast (specifically New England and Central Atlantic) recording the highest increases of about 24 cents compared to last week.
Prices per gallon are over $6 in California ($6.46), and the New England ($6.34) and Central Atlantic ($6.32) regions.
