Navistar named Göran Nyberg executive vice president of commercial operations, effective March 2022. Nyberg is familiar with the North American market, having spent six years heading up Volvo Trucks North America. He left Volvo in 2018 to join Traton's MAN Truck & Bus after a 25-year career with Volvo.

Nyberg exchanges positions with Friedrich Baumann, currently EVP of sales, marketing and aftersales, who will join MAN Truck & Bus as head of sales and customer solutions in April.

Nyberg has served as executive member for sales and customer solutions at MAN since September 2018, where he managed the realignment of the sales division and launched its new generation of trucks.

Under Baumann’s leadership, Navistar advanced a joint alignment with the International truck and IC Bus dealer networks.

The exchange of expertise between Navistar and MAN “strengthens the alignment of brands within the Traton Group,” Navistar officials said in a press release.

"Both Friedrich Baumann and Göran Nyberg are proven commercial vehicle experts with extensive experience and a clear understanding of customer needs in the transport industry," said Christian Levin, CEO of Traton SE. "The change in personnel means that our international group of strong commercial vehicle brands is growing ever closer together. MAN, Navistar and thus the Traton Group as a whole will benefit from this change and exchange of experience."

Prior to MAN, Nyberg spent time with Volvo Group, initially as managing director of Volvo Sweden in 2003, followed by international positions in management in Malaysia, Thailand and the United Kingdom. Nyberg joined Volvo Trucks North America in 2012 as president, where he spearheaded the commercial operations process “leading to one of the most diversified customer bases in the North American commercial vehicle market,” Navistar officials said.
