The Colorado ZR2 offers a high-end suspension system that's previously been used in supercars that incorporates Dynamic Suspensions Spool Valve damper technology. The truck also offers front and rear electronic locking differentials that can be activated by the driver with the push of a button.
The suspension's damper technology is provided by Multimatic, which provides similar technology to motorsport vehicles, including recent Formula One winners. Chevrolet added the technology to its 2014 Camaro Z/28.
The Colorado ZR2's DSSV dampers are position-sensitive. Their aluminum bodies each house two spool valves that provide compression and rebound damping optimized for everyday driving. During extreme off-road use, a third, piston-mounted spool valve delivers additional, uniquely tuned, compression damping. The front dampers also employ a separate rebound valve, which comes into play when the suspension approaches full extension, according to General Motors.
The ZR2 is available with the 2.8L Duramax diesel, 2.5L inline-4, or 3.6L V-6.
