In February 2015, Joel Rebennack was working outside his cable truck in Boone County, Kentucky when Brenda Amerson hit Rebennack and his truck, which led to his death later that night. Police found that Amerson was drunk during the incident.

Rebennack and another worker had the utility vehicle's flashing lights on while working; the other worker was up in the bucket during the time of the crash but was uninjured. The two were stringing calbe under contract with Time Warner Cable. Amerson hit Rebennack, pinning him between her vehicle and the utility truck.

Amerson plead guilty in the case and was sentenced with count 1 manslaughter in the second degree and given 8 years in prison and a $1,000 fine, in addition to drug and alcohol counseling and a suspension of her license, according to WCPO.com.
