The 2015 Chevrolet Colorado mid-size pickup should offer leading towing capability in the segment, General Motors has announced.
The Colorado will be able to tow 7,000 pounds when equipped with a 3.6L V-6 and 3,500 pounds when equipped with a 2.5L four-cylinder, which matches or exceeds the towing capability of the Nissan Frontier and Toyota Tacoma, GM claims.
The Colorado's towing capability also exceeds the 6,800-pound rating for the full-size Toyota Tundra equipped with a 4.6L V-8, according to GM.
The Colorado and its sister pickup, the GMC Canyon, have been tested and adhere to the Society of Automotive Engineers' SAE J2807 towing standard. GM released payload specs for the trucks earlier this month.
