Ford has released full engine specifications and towing capabilities for its 2015 F-150 pickup, which will add two new engines and auto stop-start, the automaker announced.
The newly added engines include a 2.7L V-6 EcoBoost with stop-start that provides 325 horsepower and 375 lb.-ft. of torque. The engine offers a towing capability of 8,500 pounds and payload of 2,250 pounds. Ford is also offering the 2.7L EcoBoost as a 4x2 powertrain.
The second new engine is a standard 3.5L V-6 engine with twin independent variable camshaft timing that provides 283 horsepower and 255 lb.-ft. of torque. The engine offers a towing capability of 7,600 pounds and a payload of 1,910 pounds.
In addition to the new engines, Ford will continue to offer the 3.5L EcoBoost and the 5.0L V8 with Ti-VCT. By using extensive aluminum on the 2015 F-150, Ford has shaved off 700 pounds of weight from the truck.
