Electric Utility Fleet Managers Conference Speakers Announced

Speakers have been announced and registration is now open for the 61st annual Electric Utility Fleet Managers Conference (EUFMC) to be held June 1-4, 2014 at the Williamsburg Lodge and Conference Center in Williamsburg, Va. The conference is geared toward investor-owned electric utilities.

Northeast Utilities President, Electric Distribution Named Keynote Speaker

Werner J. Schweiger, President, Electric Distribution at Northeast Utilities, will offer valuable insights to EUFMC attendees based on 30 years of utility industry experience. Currently, Schweiger is responsible for overall operations at Northeast Utilities’ four electric operating companies that deliver electricity to over 3 million customers in 525 cities and towns in Connecticut, Massachusetts and New Hampshire.

Previously, Schweiger served at NSTAR as President of NSTAR Electric, where he was responsible for distribution, engineering and investment planning across a system serving 1.1 million customers, and as Senior Vice President, Operations with responsibility for electric and gas operations, engineering, metering, fleet, training, and investment planning. Earlier in his career, Schweiger held positions at Long Island Lighting Company and Keyspan Corporation.

Celebrated Olympian to Address EUFMC

Bonnie St. John, who has been called "One of the five most inspiring women in America" will bring her message of success and will serve as the dinner speaker at EUFMC on Tuesday June 3, 2104.

St. John, who has been featured extensively by national and international media and honored by three U.S. Presidents, is a highly successful Paralympics athlete, a best-selling author, a television and radio personality, a business owner, and consultant to senior Fortune 500 business executives.

Despite having her right leg amputated at age five, Bonnie St. John became the first African-American to win Olympic or Paralympic medals in ski racing, taking home a silver and two bronze medals at the 1984 Paralympics in Innsbruck, Austria. In 2010, she represented the USA as a member of President Obama’s official delegation to the Paralympic Winter Games in Vancouver.

St. John was also honored at the White House where President George W.  Bush celebrated her Olympic achievements. After graduating Magna Cum Laude from Harvard University in 1986 and then earning a Master of Letters in Economics from Oxford University as a Rhodes Scholar, she was appointed by President Bill Clinton as a director for Human Capital Issues on the White House National Economic Council.

Today, St. John travels the globe speaking and leading seminars for corporate clients, and researching writing projects. She frequently donates personal appearances to schools, homeless shelters, community groups and other organizations. St. John is also the author of six books, including a recent best seller, How Great Women Lead, which she co-authored with her daughter, Darcy.
