Natural gas company Range Resources Corp. has purchased a number of Chevrolet 2500 and Ram 2500 CNG pickup trucks for its fleet, bringing the total number of CNG-fueled trucks the company operates to 184.

Out of this number, 100 work in its operations in southwestern Pennsylvania. According to estimates by Range, the payback period for the vehicles is two years, due to the difference in price between CNG and traditional petroleum fuels.

“Not only does compressed natural gas provide our nation with a stronger, more balanced energy portfolio, but it enhances our national security, our economy and our environment,” said Ray Walker, Range’s Chief Operating Officer. “Both GM and Chrysler Group deserve a tremendous amount of credit for providing natural gas-powered transportation options direct from the factory, and we’re proud to have partnered with them on this exciting project.”
