FULLERTON, CA - Yokohama Tire Corporation has been named recipient of the 2011 Presidents' Business Achievement Award by the Fullerton Chamber of Commerce, which annually recognizes businesses for their innovation, entrepreneurship and outstanding business citizenship. Yokohama was awarded the top honor in the large business category.

"We are honored to receive this recognition," said Takao Oishi, president and CEO of Yokohama Tire Corporation. "Service to society and stewardship of the environment are two hallmark values for Yokohama and having our efforts validated by the award is truly gratifying."

Yokohama Tire Corporation (YTC), whose U.S. headquarters has been located in Fullerton since 1986, was recognized for its numerous civic activities, including its Forever Forest initiative, where the company planted 500 trees at its facility and conducted a tree-planting lesson at nearby Commonwealth Elementary School. The initiative is part of the global commitment by YTC's parent company - The Yokohama Rubber Co., Ltd. in Japan - to plant approximately 500,000 trees around the world by its centennial anniversary in 2017. Additionally, YTC was recognized for its charitable donations to more than 20 causes such as cancer research, family service organizations and most recently, the Japanese earthquake relief fund with the American Red Cross.

"Yokohama has been a valuable member of the Fullerton business community for many years," said Theresa Harvey, executive director of the Fullerton Chamber of Commerce. "Their community outreach, both with their charitable donations and their work on the Forever Forest event, really put them over the top."

Yokohama will be recognized at a dinner Wednesday, June 15, at the Summit House Restaurant in Fullerton. Tickets are $100 and may be purchased by calling (714) 871-3100.
