LOUISVILLE, KY - Cummins QuickCheck 5200 handheld device was debuted at the Mid-America Trucking Show in Louisville, Ky., March 25-27. This pioneering device brings the ease of adjusting engine features and parameters and reading trip information into the palms of customer hands, according to the manufacturer.

Featuring a new color screen for improved readability in all lighting conditions and the ability to directly adjust individual parameter settings in the Electronic Control Module (ECM), the 5200 is state of the art in terms of design and functionality. With the simple task of connecting the QuickCheck 5200 to the engine's ECM via an industry-standard data link, the device is able to read and write information directly to the ECM. All of this leads to a product that is faster and more efficient when connecting to any Cummins on-highway engine in the U.S. and Canada.

The QuickCheck 5200 features two applications on the Windows CE-powered handheld: PowerSpec CE and QuickCheck CE. The PowerSpec CE application includes a subset of the full functionality of the PC version of PowerSpec. PowerSpec is Cummins proprietary software that allows customers to tailor features and parameters on a Cummins engine to fit their specific operation and needs. The PowerSpec CE application includes the ability to read and reset trip information and fault codes (inactive fault codes). Also, customers can read feature settings for the ECM, immediately adjust feature and trim settings with the Direct Engine Edit function and transfer a HotSpec created in the PowerSpec PC version.

The QuickCheck CE application allows customers to access public data from any manufacturer's engine with electronic controls, transmission, braking and vehicle systems. All of these features and applications showcase the incredible versatility and portability of the QuickCheck 5200.

The QuickCheck 5200 also features a rugged design, longer-lasting removable lithium-ion battery and a processer that is twice as fast as that of the entry-level QuickCheck 5100.

The QuickCheck 5200 is a convenient way to configure engine parameter settings and gather trip information and is ideal for any customer operating a Cummins on-highway engine, ranging from an owner/operator to a large fleet. It will be available in May 2010, offered for sale from Cummins distributors and dealers and online at www.powerstore.cummins.com.
