ELKHART, IN – LEER, a North American manufacturer of truck caps and tonneaus for light- and medium-duty pickup trucks, reports growing interest in its signature aluminum commercial cap, the DCC, in “wedge” and “hi-rise” configurations. While cab-high truck caps continue to be popular, the “wedge” and “hi-rise” cap profiles from LEER add up to 36” of height above the rails of the pickup truck bed. That added height means greatly increased interior capacity. That capacity bonus can translate directly into fewer trips, fewer road miles, and lower costs for fleet operators.

In some fleets, though, the LEER “wedge,” that slopes up from the cab, offers an aerodynamic benefit with a capacity just slightly smaller than the straight front “hi-rise.” Aerodynamic improvement plays a major roll in lowering the co-efficient of drag, a direct component of fuel mileage.

Another benefit of the LEER DCC is the structural material of choice: Aluminum. Aluminum offers the perfect combination of structural strength, stiffness, corrosion resistance, and light weight. A lighter cap means drivers can carry more payload with fewer trips. TIG welding and variable thicknesses of tubing help ensure that critical-use areas are properly reinforced to withstand years of hard labor.
