Truckers Protest High Gas Prices

BAKERSFIELD, CA – On April 1, truck drivers hit their brakes over high gas prices. With diesel prices soaring, truckers said gas prices have to come down or the price to haul a load needs to go up. If not, many truckers say they will have to sell their trucks and try to make a living another way, according to www.kget.com.

Many small business haulers say major companies that have a thousand trucks can operate on a penny profit but it doesn’t work that way for owner-operators.

Now it’s spreading from CB radio to CB radio that thousands of drivers across the country plan to stop hauling to send a message. They want lower diesel prices and shipping companies to increase their fuel surcharges.
